Alexander Grossman has worked as a consultant in Los
Angeles since March 2000. Specializing in business development,
strategic planning and communications, he also helps firms refine
their marketing and public identity messages. Previously, he
served as a career diplomat for seven years culminating in 1998
as a Special Assistant to the Secretary of State. In that role,
he wrote and edited policy papers and briefing materials for the
Secretary of State, supervised preparation of material for the
Secretarys testimony before Congress and, as an advance
officer, negotiated with foreign government officials regarding
the details of the Secretary's travel overseas.
Grossman joined the Foreign Service as a Vice Consul and Commercial Attaché in El Salvador in 1993. In that capacity, he was responsible for helping to promote U.S. business, trade and investment. From 1995 to 1997, he served in Santiago, Chile as an Economic and Political Officer, Science Attaché and Vice Consul where he was responsible for analyzing political developments and their potential impact on U.S. interests; promoting adoption by the host country of foreign policy decisions which supported American political and economic interests; and advising U.S. business executives on the local political and investment climate and economic trends.
Grossman received a bachelor of science degree in mechanical and aerospace engineering from Cornell University. He also did graduate study in international political economics at the University of Virginia. Grossman also served as an officer in the U.S. Air Force.
